Everything Your School Needs This Term — Now Smoother, Smarter and Simpler

Everything Your School Needs This Term — Now Smoother, Smarter and Simpler

We’re excited to bring you our most impactful release yet! One that truly transforms how you manage grading, communicate with families and handle everyday school operations. And these grading improvements are just the beginning, too; this DreamClass update isn’t just a step forward, it’s a leap into a more streamlined, intuitive experience for you and your team.

At the heart of it all? Grading. We’ve reimagined your entire grading workflow, from how terms are assigned, to how learning objectives are structured, to how final reports are generated. Add to that smarter email templates, simplified and faster attendance tracking, and powerful new API options, and you’ve got a school management system built for real school life.

What are the latest updates in DreamClass?

Let’s take a look at what’s now possible.

1. Grading: Easier, Customizable & Flexible

Grading just got the upgrade you didn’t know you needed (or, maybe you did). You can now design custom term sets that break free from fixed grading schemes. Each subject or learning objective can follow its own timeline, while grade mappings are managed separately, giving you the flexibility to align grading with how your school truly operates. On report cards, you’ll notice the clarity: all subjects now display neatly in one unified table.

Updated learning objectives, too!

And that’s not all. Learning objectives can now be grouped using a familiar folder structure, making it easier than ever to navigate, manage, and even upload your own frameworks if you wanted to. And when it’s time to close out the term, exporting final grades is now as simple as a few clicks; whether you want results per class or course, they’ll appear cleanly sorted, across separate spreadsheet tabs. Even better, your entire grading setup can now be rolled over effortlessly into the next school period.

And we’re not stopping there!

We will soon have weighted grading, available per term and learning objective, just in case not all of them are graded equally.

2. Email Templates: Customizable and Reusable

Email communications are now more powerful and flexible. You can attach reusable documents to any email template. This is perfect for including onboarding packets, handbooks, or instructions; even for announcements. Planning ahead is easier too, thanks to email scheduling, which lets you draft messages now and send them at the perfect time later.

Better notifications, too!

For attendance notifications, you’re now in control. Customize exactly how and when parents are alerted about absences. And for billing, you can now embed a Stripe link directly in your emails, meaning parents can complete invoice payments without ever logging into the portal. That’s a great feature for schools that don’t want or need to give portal access to parents, but if you think about it, it can save time (and complexity) for everyone, no matter the type of school.

3. Attendance: Intuitive, Faster

Marking attendance for all students is now faster and more intuitive. You can reorder and group attendance statuses to match your school’s routines, giving you fewer clicks and a more organized view.

And what about mid-term transfers?

Transferring a student mid-term? Now it takes just one click to move an already enrolled student to a new class. Their status updates automatically. So, in other words, inactive in the old, active in the new; all without losing any of their existing data. That’s it! Attendance will continue collecting data from their new class.

4. API: For You, Technical Users

For those integrating DreamClass with external tools or systems, our API just got a lot more powerful. You can now assign parents/guardians to specific students through the API, and retrieve address data including ZIP and State. Grade-related data is now accessible programmatically, making reporting and analytics easier than ever. We’ve also introduced a new set of endpoints for managing notes, including support for tags and CRUD functionality.
